Dr Benjamin Omowaire

MB.CHB; FRACGP; DIP AESTHETIC MED. (AAAM) & SKIN CANCER MANAGEMENT
Dr. Benjamin Omowaire is a specialist general practitioner and a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He holds bachelor’s degrees in both Medicine and Surgery, and has a postgraduate degree in paediatrics. Dr Omowaire has undertaken skin cancer training at the University of Queensland and skin laser and cosmetic training at the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine.

Dr Clara Marin Zapata

Dr Clara Marin Zapata has commenced working at Fraser Shores Medical & Hervey Bay Skin.

Originally from Columbia, Dr Clara has been practising here in Australia since 2006 and one of her favourite
locations is Darwin in the Northern Territory.

She has worked and practised all over Queensland and New South Wales, (Sydney and Brisbane to name a
couple) and lectured at a medical school in Newcastle NSW.

Special interests include: Women’s Health in Gynaecological, Obstretics, Mental and sexual health, and chronic
conditions.

Dr. Sudanthi Sooriyahetti

Dr. Sudanthi Sooriyahetti is a friendly and empathetic GP who enjoys building long-term connections with her patients and their families.Originally trained in Sri Lanka she brings a wealth of experience across hospital and community settings.

Since August 2023, Dr. Sudanthi has been working at Hervey Bay Hospital, gaining valuable experience across medicine, emergency, orthopaedics, paediatrics, cancer care, gastroenterology, rehabilitation, geriatric medicine and Hospital in the Home (HITH). This diverse clinical exposure has strengthened her skills in both acute and chronic patient care and deepened her understanding of continuity of care within hospital and community settings.

Known for her cheerful and bubbly personality, Dr. Sudanthi takes time to listen to each patient’s concerns with kindness and understanding. She values continuity of care and believes that getting to know her patients, their personal challenges, preferences, and goals ,is key to providing truly holistic care.

In addition to English, she speaks Sinhala and conversational Hindi, helping her connect with patients from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Sudanthi is a family-centred person who loves singing, cooking for friends and family, writing (as an author back home in Sri Lanka), exploring nature, and travelling.

She looks forward to welcoming new patients and supporting them on their journey toward better health and wellbeing.
